Well, fans, we’ve got our new SJ MADE date confirmed: this Saturday from 6-7pm! Come on by if you’re in the area, and see not just us but many snazzy independent vendors!
Sad news: SJ:Made Keep weekend was canceled. But we may have a performance at their event next weekend so stay tuned!
Sad news everyone! The SJ:Made Keep weekend has been canceled, and subsequently so has our performance :( But we may be playing in their event next weekend so stay tuned!
The secret is out! Our project is finished and we can finally announce just what we have been working on for the past few months: a video-song for Hypermobility with full instrumentation! A video-song, for those curious, is a music video where what you see is what you hear — the video clips match the takes used in the song, and all instruments in the song are shown.
You can download the MP3 for free at http://neverrightnow.bandcamp.com/track/hyper-mobility.
Special thanks to Chris and Christina of the Dolanc String Quartet for playing Violin and Cello for us! Check them out at http://www.dolancstringquartet.com.
We’ve got big news for our fans: a move, a new show, new pictures, and a secret project in the works!
First off, Never Right Now is happy to announce we’ve recently moved to the San Francisco Bay area. We hope that this opens new opportunities for gigs and collaborations. If you have any ideas for venues in the area please feel free to suggest them!
Secondly, to end our touring dry spell and get back on our feet, we’ll be doing a show Sunday, July 31 at 2pm at SJ Made for their KEEP weekend. The show is FREE, and there will be lots of interesting vendors and artists there, so check it out if you can! Thanks again to Gretchen for suggesting us!
As you can see above, we’ve added some new gallery pictures from our Ironsides gig back in December, courtesy of Alan Dill. Check them out! We have many more to add from other gigs, so stay tuned!
Finally, we’ve been working on a mystery project for the past few months, with the help of our friends Christina and Christopher Dolanc of the Dolanc String Quartet. The Dolancs are fabulous musicians and a great pleasure to work with, and we can’t wait to reveal the art we’ve created!
That’s it for now! To receive these updates directly, please sign up for our mailing list.
I’m not blaming anybody. Or lamenting. Or complaining. I think labels can be great. I think industry (which is a word that means work) can be an amazing thing. I don’t really know if the old way was better or worse, I can only see what it leaves behind as it comes tumbling down.
What I do know is that I can start my own system. I can use the tools of communication, networking, and technology to help my fan base be part of my art. I pre-sold my album to fund the recording and now I’m pre-selling shows before I even book them so that I can come and play for my fans wherever they want me to play.

This is such a wonderful idea. In some ways, scary as these times might be, they’re also great times for us creative types because we get to set the rules, and change strategies if we need to. The power of the Internet is the power of community. And as Kim has shown us, it CAN work for musicians.
Thanks to Mario Meneses’ awesome camera work, we’ve got video up from our performance at Old Ironsides last December— a six-song set as their Featured Performing Act. If you’ve ever wanted to see us live but couldn’t make our shows, here’s your chance! You can go to the playlist on Youtube or watch the whole thing through via the video above!
Thanks for supporting our music online and at our shows. We hope to see you at future shows (see http://neverrightnow.com/shows.htm to check for dates, and be sure to sign up for our mailing list or friend us on Facebook to get notified as soon as we have a new event)!
